Brewers Pitching Rotation Preview - Episode 13
Joe walks you through the Starting Pitchers for the Milwaukee Brewers in 2010.
Even this close to the season there are a few question marks for Ken Macha and the club. Who's going to be the number 5 starter? Good new is we don't need one until April 14/15, and Jeff Suppan may be on the 15 day DL.
Here's how its looking:
1. Yovani Gallardo
2. Randy Wolf
3. Doug Davis
4. Dave Bush
5. Chris Narveson OR Manny Parra OR Jeff Suppan (boo)

Good point about Narveson, it is too bad they did not give him more innings this spring.
It looks like I'll be seeing Doug David pitch the third game of the season.

The Brewers have their work cut-out for them. Yovani is a stud. Good thing the Brew-crew rested him at the end of last year. They could have ruined his arm otherwise. Wolf holds his own and is a innings eater. Not sure if he's a "2" guy in the rotation though.. With the Dodgers he was like their 3rd or 4th starter. Davis is only "okay" I think. He should be the 4th or 5th starter.
Its all an uphill battle from there. Bush is like a craps shoot - you don't know what you're gonna get. The other three (Chris Narveson - Manny Parra - Jeff Suppan) are there cuz Milwaukee does have anyone better and they have to fill a slot! The bullpen looks much better. If Brewers starting pitchers can leave a game leading or at least close, the bullpen has the capacity to end it there.
Thanks for tuning in guys. I totally agree with you, the Brewers do NOT have the arms like the Red Sox do. Good news is they have a powerful lineup and a good bullpen. Also, while they don't have 5 GREAT starting pitchers, they do have 6 serviceable starting pitchers where some teams, like the DBacks, only have 4. Maybe we can use one as trade bait to fill a gap elsewhere?
